Orthodontic Technology
The Role of Technology in Orthodontics
At our orthodontic clinic in Winnipeg, dental technology plays a role in just about everything we do.
Orthodontic tools help us diagnose issues more accurately, plan treatments more precisely, and provide patients with a smoother, more comfortable experience.
This technology allows our team to analyze your teeth, bite, and jaw alignment in detail. This helps us understand the exact nature of your orthodontic concerns and make a clear, accurate diagnosis. With this information, we can create a customized orthodontic treatment plan designed specifically for your smile, goals, and overall oral health.
Technology also helps us plan and guide your treatment from start to finish. Digital imaging and modern orthodontic software allow us to map tooth movement, monitor progress, and make adjustments as needed to keep your treatment on track. This helps keep your treatment efficient, predictable, and tailored to your needs.
Throughout your orthodontic journey, technology also plays a role in how we communicate with you about your treatment. Visual tools and digital imaging help you better understand your orthodontic condition, the steps involved in your treatment plan, and the progress you are making along the way.
By combining orthodontic technology with personalized care, our Winnipeg team can deliver more precise treatment and better long-term results, helping you achieve a healthy, confident smile.
iTero Digital Scanner
The iTero Scanner is a digital scanner that is designed to capture the structure of the teeth and gums. We offer the state of the art in scanning at Dr. Dumore & Team.
The scan is done with a compact, handheld wand. Once the scan is complete, it creates a 3D image of your teeth and gums that can be used by Invisalign to help our orthodontists deliver a beautiful smile.
- There is no exposure to radiation as it uses a laser to generate the image.
- The scan is completed chair-side by an assistant in as little as 15 minutes and can be stopped and started as many times as necessary for the patient’s comfort.
3D IMAGES & PRINTER
In most offices, ‘impressions’ or ‘molds’ are taken of your teeth. Instead, we have invested in iTero scanner technology so that computer models are made of your teeth!
We are the first to use this in Canada! These models can be printed with our 3D printer. During your treatment with us you won’t experience any ‘goop’ in your mouth.
Our xray machine takes 3D images of your teeth and skull, with significantly reduced exposure levels.
DIGITAL X-RAYS
X-rays are a primary tool for early identification of orthodontic problems. Detecting issues with x-rays before they become problematic can save you money in the long run. Early detection can help prevent the need for more extensive, expensive procedures or surgeries.
We use digital x-rays. Digital x-rays allow us to take x-rays with 1/5 of the radiation that you would receive from traditional x-rays. The worry of exposure to excess radiation is eliminated.
Large on-screen x-rays make patient communication more effective. The immediate observation of the images on the screen allows us to discuss your orthodontic health quickly and accurately.
Digital photography
Digital radiography has greatly enhanced the practice of orthodontics. It allows the patient and the doctor to see images of the teeth in higher resolution on a large format for easier detection of problems, all while decreasing the radiation exposure to the patient. The process we use further defines the radiograph, resulting in clinically meaningful images that are sharp, detailed and rich in contrast.
Images are available instantly after exposure, eliminating the wait and effort spent developing and mounting x-rays. Digital format also allows us to send and receive your images electronically, allowing for a faster consultation with your dentist.
LightForce Braces
We use LightForce braces, which allows Dr. Dumore to offer a custom fit for every patient. This means less discomfort, more effective straightening, and shorter treatments.
LightForce is the next generation of tooth straightening: It’s more efficient, more personalized, and more convenient for patients like you.
